Spider-Man cookies!

Peter Parker is such an unassuming fellow, just a pair of smartypants, living in quiet existence.

Who’s to know that he’s saving the world in a flashy bodysuit with superwebs coming out of his superwrists?

How does a crime-fighting superhero prioritize his calls for help anyway?

How does Santa hit EVERY house, and how does Spider-Man have the time to be Peter Parker AND attend to his villains?

Do heroes ever sleep?

I wonder if they ever receive a distress call and say,  “aw man, not today. so lazy.”

To make the eyes for my Spider-Man cookies, I used the run-out technique. Outlined in black, filled in with white, let it dry and peel them off the wax paper.

Then I outlined and filled the face in red and placed the eyes. After the surface dried, I piped his web pattern.

Yeah…the bottom lines are squiggly. I know this is not an excuse, but I may have been a LITTLE hungover.

Nod of approval from the little man.
If you’re wondering about that brown orb he’s holding, it’s takoyaki — a kind of Japanese street food and one of my favorite snacks of all time.

Hi, did you try the runouts with the shortening rub? If so, was it better?
Spiderman is cool but I really actually like him Peter Parker.
    The cookies are so cute.
Oh, I love Takoyaki too although found them a bit weird when I first tried them.
It’s a lot of things going on in the one ball but it all kind of works, doesn’t it?

LOL jude, funny you should ask that..because I totally remembered your comment from before, and raided my kitchen for shortening. I didn’t find any so I had to do without, but I bought some just yesterday for this purpose only. Will report back!

  8. I love your technique for the eyes. Do you use royal icing?

    • Kotomi says:

thanks liz! yes, i piped royal icing for the eyes on parchment paper first and then added them to the cookie while the red icing was still wet.

  9. Angie says:

These are prob the best I’ve seen on the web yet! Look Great! Any tips for piping the webs? I have a spiderman party coming up and was wondering if you had a advice. ;o) I was going to use a 2 tip……

    • Kotomi says:

aww thank you angie!! I believe I used a 2 tip too. 1 is so small it tends to clog up sometimes, so i prefer the 2.

I did the longer lines first, 2 V’s in between the eyes, and then one going straight down to the chin. Then i did all the horizontal short lines. (i hope that made sense, lol!)

  10. Angie says:

Yes! Totally make sense. Fun, Fun, fun! thanks for the quick response.
